When the aroma of freshly brewed coffee--from freshly ground beans--wafts into your bedroom in the morning, you won't need your alarm clock. Preset this coffeemaker for your desired wake-up time, add coffee beans to the grinder, and in the morning the beans are ground to a medium grind and hot coffee awaits in the 10-cup stainless steel, double-wall insulated thermal carafe. You can also program the machine to start brewing at the end of a dinner party to avoid having to get up from the table, or to have hot coffee waiting after a brisk winter walk. When making fewer than five cups of coffee, use the 1-to-4-cups setting to improve extraction and heat; coffeemakers without this setting often lack the time to heat up properly, and coffee comes out cooler. A disposable charcoal filter removes chlorine and odors from tap water, improving coffee flavor, and should be changed every few months.  Looks Good Bad Design September 5, 2010

The Cuisinart Coffee machine looks good, but is idiotically designed. At 5'3", I am too short to pour coffee into the reservoir without spilling it all over the --standard height--counter. So, I set up the rest of the coffee and my husband pours it. Idiotic! Pouring coffee is a pain, too--you can pour it with lid on, but it pours REALLY slowly. Remove lid and pour and coffee spills all over. Cleanup is also a pain with all the parts. The coffee tastes fine, however. The other day I put beans in and the machine began to beep out of nowhere. I had to unplug it for awhile, then reprogram. What a pain! Finally, when setting timer, not that PM comes up first--completely counter intuitive if you ask me--so you must cycle through to AM. It was expensive, so I will hang onto it for at least awhile--unless I throw it out the window because I get pissed at it.
 I hesitate to say this, but althought pretty in looks its horrid in durability. September 3, 2010

This was beautiful and sleek and sooooo nice when we first got it for about two years. Pretty good for a coffee maker. Then the caraffe began to leak around the bottom seal that is one inch from the bottom, the grinder stopped grinding early on and the part that is supposed to stop it from pouring when you remove the caraffe to get yourself a cup of coffee drips, leaks and makes a HORRID mess along the counter, day after day, after day..... It never poured very well as the spout is wide and not sharp enough to cut off the flow as you tilt it up to stop pouring. Very disappointed. My husband didn't tell me any of this until I continued to complain about his spilling coffee drippings along the floor, all under the coffee maker, drips on my kitchen cabinet.... you can imagine. He confessed, reluctantly that the expensive machine went kaputt a long time ago. So, now I will get a Mr. Coffee machine and not worry about the looks but focus on dependibility. So sorry Cuisinart, I love the products but this one is not, not, not Cuisinart quality.

I have had this for over a year with no problems. The cofee is good. But it does have an annoyingly loud sound while grinding. No one could sleep through it It could take the place of your alarm clock! It brews quickly! It is a bit of work to clean all the parts out! But if you want a programmable grind & brew machice I would recommend!

You want to spend HOURS disassembling and cleaning this machine! BUY IT!
Want simplicity, and frustration free coffee making???
But a separate bean grinder, and a PLUNGER (French Press).
The coffee will be better, more enjoyable, and all you do is wash out the plunger.
This Cuisinart machine ~ i wouldn't even give to a charity shop - SAlvation Army!!!!! It is in the garbage bin!

Unit was returned as it was not the one I had wanted, It was the 600 and I wanted the 900, Amazon was really good about taking it back and I did get the 900. Be careful when ordering this coffee maker, the 600 and 900 looks alike when ordering.
