Expensive, Persnikity, and Bad May 2, 2010 F. Christenson (Cincinnati Ohio USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I detest this coffeemaker with every fiber of my being. It was expensive (I paid over $100 for it back in the day before the price went down). The coffee it made was nothing special, it was coffee...that was all! It would spill, it would not make coffee (you had to de-scale, or re-scale or push the right button sequence or some darned thing), it was hard to program. Your worked for it, it did not work for you. Finally, I replaced it with a cheaper model, took the Cuisinart outside and bashed it into pieces on the concrete. That was my most satisfying moment with this useless machine.
Frankly Cusinart's quality has taken a huge slide over the past 15 years, and I avoid their appliance like the plague. There are tons of them which are better and cheaper. I bought a Krups (not a bad one) and will replace that one (a bit complex) with a Betty Crocker, which has high marks from consumers.
Please don't waste your loot on the Cusinart coffee maker.
Makes great coffee! March 21, 2010 Andrew's Mom (Westchester, NY) I've had a Mr. Coffee coffee maker for about a year now, which made horrible coffee, which spilled everywhere when pouring. After reading others feedback, I purchased this product. I am extremely pleased with the coffee maker. It makes excellent coffee and has all the features I need (auto-shut off, timer, etc.). I've only had it about a week now, but have had no problems. The only tiny issue, is learning how to use the features, which are a little confusing. I rarely use owner's manuals, but had to with this. But the coffee that comes out is definitly worth the work!
Hot coffee January 1, 2010 Doll Diva (Virginia) There are several great features on this pot and some deficiencies also. On the plus side, it absolutely does not drip! You can select the temp of the warming plate and the on-off sound is very helpful. The coffee itself is only okay. Not nearly as good as a Melitta. The clock is too tiny. I have to use a flashlight to view it. There are a few other annoyances, but all in all, I would purchase this pot again unless there were a comparable Melitta available.
Impossible to clean! October 17, 2009 Howard L Lambert (Lemoore, California United States) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
If you disregard the instructions and use 2 TBsp grounds per cup, this model actually makes really good coffee...when new.
Disappointingly, this machine is put together in such a way that you can't take any of it it apart for cleaning! No matter how careful you are, grounds WILL eventually get in every nook and cranny and you'll never be able to get them all out (without doing something drastic, voiding the warranty). I DON'T WANT OLD STALE GROUNDS AND ACCUMULATED RANCID OILS MIXING THEIR FLAVOR INTO MY EXPENSIVE FRESH COFFEE. "De-calcification" only gets about 10% of the cleaning job done.
Other than that fatal flaw, it has a few cool features like "1-4 cup heating boost", 3 selectable carafe warming temps, 4 selectable preset auto-off times and clock/programmable self-brew (reason I bought it in the first place) for those early mornings when I know are going to be rushed and I don't have time to brew coffee.
cuisinart coffee maker October 8, 2009 Brenda Quinn so far so good, the last two coffee pots i bought from you broke within 2 months!! They were not cuisinart, so I still have my fingers crossed. The extra charcoal filter this coffee pot has makes the coffee extra special tasting.
