Great buy for what I paid and reliable to boot. March 11, 2010 Westender This does exactly what it's supposed to do.
For a small change I paid for this over a year ago, this has been an excellent, reliable coffee brewer every morning over that period.
I knew about about the "leveling" problems from reading the reviews, so I immediately got rid of 2 travel mugs and instead used a single wide-mouthed glass carafe. But coffee does seem to drip out of both spouts evenly so I could have used travel mugs. I also discovered while cleaning, that the plastic piece with 2 spouts does come off revealing a single drip hole behind it. It functions perfectly that way too.
Cons:
1) If you use #2 filter and too much ground coffee, you sometimes get an "overflow" and get sediment in your cup. #4 filter solves that problem.
2) Coffee dripped directly into a cup that has been pre-warmed with boiling water still doesn't seem hot enough. Not sure if this is just my machine or it is a general problem with ME2TMB.
mugs are cheap October 17, 2009 L. Johnson (New York) I have owned this item for about a year now. The only thing I do not like about it is the fact that mugs are cheap. One of them fell apart a few months into use and now the remaining one has fallen apart. I have just started looking for replacement mugs so can't report how that experience is yet. Otherwise I will probably use a regular mug and just use another travel mug when I want to take it in the car. I have been happy with everything else about the machine.
Great indivual coffee maker February 15, 2009 Richard M. Knag (East Stroudsburg, PA) Makes a very good cup of coffee, I have 2 of them, 1 for my office and 1 for home. It's a little more expensive per cup compared to a large coffee maker, but since I'm the only one in my household that drinks coffee it's ideal for me.
Good value for the money January 31, 2009 K. Moy (Long Beach, Ca United States) I researched all the various types of individual and "to go" coffee makers before deciding on the Melitta. I wanted something easy to clean, something that would make consistent coffee, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. This machine met all those needs.
Pros:
Easy to measure needed water
Standard cup and filter size
Fast brew time
Angled sipping lid
Consistent, great tasting brew
Cons:
The sipping lid does not close
Difficult to fill the water if unit is under a counter
My only gripe is that the lids that come with the mugs don't close. When I'm at home, it's not a big deal, but for the 5 days a week, I'm running out of the house with my briefcase, jacket, umbrella, kids homework, and this open cup of coffee it's a pain in the rear. Fortunately the mugs are almost standard size. I have several other travel mugs that have screw tops or sliding covers to keep the coffee from splashing out. They are similar in volume, but also need to be similar in circumference at the rim. I use one of those during the week and it fits just fine under the drip lines. All in all, it's a great value and I would purchase it again.
Melitta ME2TMB 1-2 cup coffee maker January 7, 2009 L. Riggin Unit works quickly and there is no mess. I find it to be a very good product.
