Good design lousy coffee August 27, 2010 Da_cheeze (Wayne, NJ USA) Nice little unit that does the job, but the problem is the gold
mesh filter... it has a solid plastic bottom that does not allow the
water to filter through properly.. the resulting coffee is
bland. I tried the same blend and measure on an older Krups
and it was excellent.
Just the right size... August 27, 2010 Joanie (Texas) This coffeemaker is the perfect size for the two of us, as we drink only a cup or two of coffee each morning. Also, it does not take up nearly as much room on our counter top as a conventional-size coffeemaker does. A hint I'd like to share: if you have hard water but don't feel comfortable drinking softened water, use distilled water in your coffeemaker. We've been using distilled water in ours since we got it (a couple of months now), and it still makes coffee quickly, with no sign of our needing to run a cleaner through it. No frustrating waiting "forever" for our coffee to be ready.
mr coffee 4-cup/1-mug coffee maker August 11, 2010 Reefkeeper (Westchester County, NY) I've had this now, for about five weeks. Before it, I had a Mr.Coffee 4-cup/1-mug coffee-maker for just about 10-years and that just kept perking and perking over the years. The only reason for replacing it was that its glass carafe broke. The new model is redesigned and it, just like its predecessor, makes a decent cup/mug of coffee. It isn't as good as some larger coffee-makers that we have, but for the one person I make it for every morning during the week (yours truly) it is quite good (just be sure to put enough coffee in the coffee-reservoir for your taste) and I'm not compromising too much. I certainly enjoy it each day. The coffee it makes is a bit hotter than in the case of the old one I had since the redesigned top through which the fresh coffee and water is put now seals better. I would have liked for this coffee-maker to make my mug's worth faster than in the four and a half minutes or so that it takes...But, then...what's my rush? Overall, the small space that it requires on the counter-top, the quality of the coffee it makes and the reasonable price make this coffee maker a good buy.
keep it simple July 12, 2010 Christopher N Tulin Disaster struck this morning when my 20+ year-old 4-cup Mr. Coffee died. Other cleaning and replacing a (cheap) carafe, it has produced thousands of delicious cups of coffee over the years. Did I really want to throw it out and order a new unknown model coffee maker.
I charged over to Ace Hardware, who had a switch that was an identical replacement for less than [...] bucks and I'm back in business.
I hope to get another 20 years out of it.
4 cup Mr. Coffee June 25, 2010 Barbara Meltsner Thank you Mr. Coffee for improving your product. I have purchased 3 (careless user)of these coffee makers in the last 4 years. Finally the coffee does not spill while pouring and the water reservoir is easy to fill.
